Hair Loss

Hair Loss

Hair loss (alopecia) is experienced by both men and women can affect just your scalp or your entire body. It can be temporary or permanent. There are many reasons for hair loss, therefore it is best to consult with a medial professional to determine the cause.

The most common symptoms of hair loss include:

  • Gradual thinning on top of head
The most common type of hair loss is the gradual loss many see, as we age. In men, it is more common to see the hair recede at the hairline, visible on the forehead. In women, it seems to be most common in the middle parting of the hair and in some, a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
  • Circular or patchy bald spot
Some people lose hair in patchy or circular type bald spots on the scalp, eyebrows or beard area.
  • Sudden loosening of hair
Stress, injury and physical or emotional shock can also cause hair to loosen. Some people witness handfuls of hair coming out when combing or washing your hair, or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
  • Full-body hair loss
Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
  • Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp
This can be a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.

There are many options for treating hair loss. These include topicals, sprays, shampoo’s, injectables and surgical procedures.

Peptides for Hair Loss

Copper Peptide (GHK-Cu)

The copper peptide (GHK-Cu), can help to improve hair growth by decreasing inflammation at the scalp, increasing blood flow to the hair follicle and fighting off free radicals that may lead to excess hair loss. The copper peptide is applied topically to the scalp daily.

PTD-DBM Peptide

Protein transduction domain (PTD)-Dvl-binding motif (DBM) is a peptide topical scalp treatment, used for follicle regeneration. It inhibits the follicle shrinking action of the body’s hormones and enzymes effectively rescuing the follicle at a stem cell level. Treatment with PTD-DBM both prevents hair loss and promotes the growth of new hair follicles.

Hair Restoration Surgical Procedures

Follicular Unit Extraction

Also known as FUE Hair Transplantation involves the individual extraction of follicular units from the sides and back of the scalp. It is a very labor intensive procedure that allows the patient to keep their donor hair very short with no linear scar after the hair transplant procedure.

Injectable Extracellular Vesicles (EV) for Hair Loss Therapy

This is said to be one of the most exiting therapy tools in regenerative medicine today. EV’s have been used by clinicians in wound care, burns and aesthetic applications including post laser/post micro needling and hair loss therapy.  This procedure is performed by experienced hair surgical physicians.

NeoGraft

NeoGraft is the first and only FDA cleared follicular unit harvesting and implantation system. The NeoGraft system delivers automation of the FUE technique, the most advanced technique in the hair transplant industry.

Eyebrow Hair Restoration

Hair transplantation has been used successfully for many years to fill out patchy or partial eyebrows, to restore absent eyebrows, and even camouflage scars within the eyebrow area.

Beard and Facial Hair Transplant

Hair loss thinning of the eyebrows and the temporal region as we age is not uncommon.

Traction Alopecia Hair Transplant

The reason for the increase is Traction Alopecia, a hair loss condition caused by damage to the dermal papilla and hair follicle by constant pulling or tension over a long period. It often occurs in persons who wears tight braids, especially “cornrows” that lead to high tension, pulling and breakage of hair.

Hair Laser Cap Therapy

There are many options for this type of at home procedure today. Seeking the advice of a qualified hair loss physician is recommended.

Low Level Light Therapy

Low-Level Light Therapy is another alternative option for hair loss.  Under the supervision of a qualified, medical professional, this is a clinically proven and safe in-home device. It treats thinning hair and balding in both men and women. It is FDA 510k cleared for men and women and is said to energize cellular activity within the follicle, and promote the proliferation of thick, full and healthier-looking hair.
